Vicki Chvala Elected to Executive Vice President at American Family Insurance

Madison, Wis. (Feb. 1, 2006) — The board of directors of American Family Mutual Insurance Company has elected Vicki Chvala to the position of executive vice president.

Chvala was promoted from the position of vice president of human resources. She will oversee the company’s Education, Human Resources, Information Services and Office Administration divisions.

“Vicki has been an officer with our company for 17 years and has a thorough understanding of our business and our culture,” said American Family President and Chief Operating Officer Dave Anderson. “She did an outstanding job in bringing revolutionary change to our Human Resources Division, which now has a service delivery model that is one of the best in the country among Fortune 500 companies.”

Chvala succeeds Executive Vice President Al Meyer, who assumes executive vice president responsibilities for the company’s Broker/Dealer Division and subsidiaries American Family Life Insurance Company and American Family Financial Services. Meyer succeeds Executive Vice President Dan DeSalvo, who died suddenly late last year.

Chvala joined American Family in 1979 and served in various corporate training and employee development positions before her election as vice president of human resources in 1988. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a bachelor’s degree in special education.

Chvala has been active in several professional organizations, including the Society of Human Resource Management, the Human Resource Policy Association, The Executive Agenda and the Insurance Conference Group.
