American Family Insurance Donates $30,000 to Red Cross Chapters to Assist Midwest Storm Victims

Madison, Wis. (June 12, 2008) — American Family Insurance today donated $30,000 to local American Red Cross chapters to help residents affected by a series of powerful Midwestern storms. The donation was made to Red Cross chapters in Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa and Kansas.

Five Wisconsin chapters received a total of $16,000 from American Family:

In Indiana, the Wabash Valley Chapter in Terre Haute received $5,000 from American Family.

In Iowa, the Grant Wood Area Chapter, serving Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, received $5,000 from American Family.

In Kansas, the Kansas Capital Area Chapter (serving Manhattan) and the North Central Kansas Chapter (serving Chapman) each received $2,000 from American Family.

“While our agents and claims employees are working very hard to help our customers recover from these storms, American Family also feels a need to contribute to the relief efforts of the American Red Cross,” said Jack Salzwedel, American Family’s president and chief operating officer. “It’s been a rough few weeks for residents in these four states, and the Red Cross provides direct relief to those most in need.”

American Family catastrophe teams and local claims employees are responding to customer claims as result of heavy wind and hail storms that battered Midwestern states. American Family customers who have claims should immediately contact their agent or the company’s 24-hour Customer Care Center 1-800-MY-AMFAM (692-6326) to arrange an inspection of their damaged property or vehicle.
