American Family Insurance sponsors Clifford The Big Red Dog BE BIG! campaign

Madison, Wis. (March 17, 2010) — American Family Insurance is sponsoring the Scholastic Clifford BE BIG! campaign, a multi-year, nationwide program that invites everyone to take action and raise awareness for how Clifford's BIG ideas (Share, Play Fair, Have Respect, Work Together, Be Responsible, Be a Good Friend, Help Others, Be Truthful, Be Kind and Believe in Yourself) can make the world a better place.

The campaign invites individuals or groups to submit a BIG idea in the "Be Big in Your Community Contest." Entries can be submitted either via the link from American Family's campaign Web site at www.amfam.com/bebig or via the mail. The deadline is June 30, 2010. Winning ideas will be chosen in October.

One grand prize, ten (10) first place winners and nineteen (19) second place honorees will be chosen in October 2010, based on criteria including feasibility, creativity, sustainability and impact. Winning BIG ideas will be honored with community grants to help implement them. One second place honoree will be chosen from each of American Family's 19 operating states. Grants range from $1,315.79 each for second place to $2,500 each for first place. The award is $25,000 for the grand prize.

The contest is open to legal residents of all 50 states and the District of Columbia, except second place eligibility is limited to legal residents of Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin. With 126 million Scholastic books in print, Clifford is a children's literary classic and has also been an award-winning animated television series celebrating its 10th anniversary on PBS KIDS this year.
