Six small businesses show how to "Step-It-Up" in the Business Accelerator Program

Madison, Wis. (Nov. 10, 2010) —Six small businesses were honored recently for their ability to implement significant sales, marketing, or operational changes in their businesses. The Step-It-Up Competition examined the efforts by small businesses to demonstrate their prowess over the course of the 2010 Business Accelerator Program, a free resource presented by American Family Insurance.

Award winners were transported to Chicago for a night on the town and peer recognition at the Business Accelerator symposium at the Hyatt Rosemont on Oct. 22.

"Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy, and these winners showed the type of resilience and creativity needed to succeed in a very challenging economic climate," said Euan Ford, multicultural marketing strategist of American Family Insurance. "By enabling these small business owners address their critical needs, the Business Accelerator Program is helping to create a better future for all of us."

The six small businesses were selected as Step-It-Up winners based on the thoroughness, creativity, and sales results achieved over the course of the six-month program:

The Business Accelerator Program is a national, online program available for viewing live or on-demand. Small business education is delivered via symposiums, webinars, e-tips, small learning groups and an online coaching forum. The series addresses topics critical to small businesses, including marketing, sales, finance and growth. Participants learn to generate more business, increase profitability and effectively manage their businesses.

Winners of the Business Accelerator Step-It-Up Competition received an extensive prize package including advanced sales training from the Wright Business Institute, marketing strategy planning from Hi-Impact Marketing & Sales Solutions, small business social media education from Forward Progress and a $500 gift card from Staples.
