American Family Insurance's Go Get Your Dream Challenge Contest Rules



ELIGIBILITY: This Competition is open to the public. Entrants must be (18) years of age or older at the time of entry.

The following are not eligible : Employees, agents, agent staff, officers, and directors (including immediate family members) of American Family Mutual Insurance Company including their affiliated companies, subsidiaries, licensees, distributors, dealers, retailers, contractors, printers, web design, and advertising and promotion agencies, and any and all other companies or individuals associated with the administration, development, fulfillment and execution of this Contest (collectively, "Promotion Parties") are not eligible to participate. The term "immediate family member" includes spouses, grandparents, parents, siblings, children, and grandchildren and "step" of each. In addition, those living in the same households (those persons whether related or not who live in the same residence for at least three (3) months during the twelve month period preceding the start date of the Contest are not eligible to participate in this Contest.

This Contest is administered by American Family Mutual Insurance Company. The Administrator is responsible for the collection, submission and processing of entries and the overall administration and execution of the Contest. Contest begins at 1:30:00 PM Central Standard Time ("CST") on January 19, 2012 and ends at 11:59:59 PM CST on February 26, 2012 ("Contest Period").


One entry per person. To enter the Contest, Entrants must visit and complete the following tasks:

Task A: Entrant must select one of the SIX (6) predetermined "Dream

Challenge" buckets:

Task B: Then Entrant must - Provide A Dream Description:

Step 1 . Provide Title for 2012 their original dream, 50 characters or less of text.

Step 2. Upload photograph and 500 characters or less of text, of Entrant's original dream for 2012.

Step 3. (optional): Upload an audiovisual recording, 2 minutes or less, of Entrant's original dream for 2012.

(*Under this section, Entrants much complete steps 1 and 2 while submission of an audiovisual recording in step 3 is optional)

Task C: Provide personal information, including name, address, city/state/zip,

phone, email address and acceptance of the terms and conditions.

Submission of the above Dream Description along with all of the other entry requirements must be completed via the Contest website ("Submission Materials" or "Entry") between 12:00:00 am CT January 16, 2012 and 11:59:59 pm CT February 26, 2012 ("Submission Period"). In order to be considered a valid Entry, the Submission Materials must conform to the criteria listed in Section 6 below.

As mentioned above, Entrants may enter the Contest only one (1) time. Any attempt to obtain more than one (1) entry, may lead to disqualification (as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion). No substitutes for the official entry method may be used to enter the Contest, and Sponsor will not accept entries by U.S. Mail, email, fax, or any other way other than the methods listed above. All entries are the property of Sponsor. The Sponsor is not responsible for printing or typographical errors in any Contest-related materials, or any stolen, late, misdirected, lost, damaged, delayed, incomplete, or illegible entries. If there is a dispute as to who submitted an entry, the Sponsor will determine the entrant by who established the email account.


Sponsor reserves the right to, and may or may not; monitor/screen Entries prior to posting them to the Website. By entering, Entrant acknowledges that Sponsor has no obligation to use or post submitted Entry. For good and valuable consideration, the receipt and legal sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, each Entrant into the Contest hereby irrevocably grants the Sponsor, American Family Mutual Insurance Company ("AFI"), their respective successors and assigns, perpectual non-exclusive license and/or full ownership of the Entrant's Submission Materials thus granting AFI the right (but not the obligation) to reproduce, publicly perform, stream, exploit and otherwise use the Submission Materials throughout the universe, in perpetuity, by means of any and all media and devices whether now known or hereafter devised. AFI shall have the right, in its sole discretion, to edit, composite, morph, scan, duplicate, or alter the Submission Materials for any purpose which AFI deem necessary or desirable, and each Entrant irrevocably waives any and all so-called moral rights they may have therein. By submitting your Submission Materials, you further represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights to grant AFI all publication and use rights. AFI shall have the right to freely assign their rights hereunder, in whole or in part, to any person or entity. AFI shall retain the rights granted in the Submission Materials even if the Entrant is disqualified.


Any waiver of any obligation hereunder by Sponsors does not constitute a general waiver of any obligation to Entrants.


As conditions of Entry into this Contest, and by uploading Submission Materials, each Entrant warrants and represents on behalf of Entrant and every other member of Entrant's participating family/friends, that Submission Materials (a) including any pictures or video that are submitted for this Contest are their original work, (b) that the Submission Materials do not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity; (c) that Entrant has obtained permission from any person whose name, or likeness is used in the Submission Materials and (d) and that publication of the Submission Materials via various media including Web posting, will not infringe on the rights of any third party rights. Any such Entrant will indemnify and hold harmless, the Promotion Parties and Sponsor from any and all claims to the contrary. Each Entrant further warrants and represents that the Entrant has obtained permission from each person who appears in the Submission Materials to grant the rights to the Promotion Parties and Sponsor described in these Official Rules, and can make written copies of such permissions available to the Promotion Parties or Sponsor upon request. By submitting an Entry, Entrant agrees to the Terms and Conditions specified on this Web site and further agrees to never sue or assert any claim against the Promotion Parties' or Sponsor for use of the Submission Materials. Entrant agrees to indemnify and hold the Promotion Parties, Sponsor and their respective affiliates, officers, directors, agents, co-branders or other partners, and any of their employees (collectively, the "Contest Indemnitees"), harmless from any and all claims, damages, expenses, costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) and liabilities (including settlements), brought or asserted by any third party against any of the Contest Indemnitees due to or arising out of the Entrant's Submission Materials in the Contest, or the Entrant's conduct during and in connection with this Contest, including but not limited to claims of infringement of a party's trademark, copyright, or other intellectual property rights, right of publicity, right of privacy or defamation. Entrant agrees to release and indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor and the Promotion Parties from any and all claims that any advertising, presentation, web content or any other material subsequently produced, presented, and/or prepared by or on behalf of Sponsor or the Promotion Parties infringes on the rights of Entrant's work as contained in the Submission Materials.

Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Should the Contest be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, notice will be posted on the Web Site and the Prizes may be awarded to potential Winners to be selected from among all applicable Eligible Entries received up until and or after (if applicable) the time of modification, cancellation or termination or in a manner that is fair and equitable as determined by Sponsors. All interpretations of these Official Rules and decisions by the Sponsors are final.

Sponsor also reserves the right, at their sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the Entry process, and to cancel, modify or terminate the Contest or any part of the Contest. If, for reasons beyond the control of Sponsor (including, but not limited to, tampering or computer virus infection), the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, Sponsor, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to cancel or modify the Contest, without liability.

Winner's Performance must not contain profane, unlawful, harmful, tortious, defamatory, libelous, obscene, invasive of the privacy of another person, threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, racist, infringing, pornographic, violent or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate images or language as determined by Sponsor and must otherwise strictly conform to the reasonable requirements set forth by Sponsor.

Additional Requirements

· Regarding acceptable music, only Submission Materials that are determined, at the sole discretion of the Sponsor as appropriate and compliant, will be deemed valid entries.

· No Entries will be returned. Sponsor may, in their sole discretion, remove, delete and/or disqualify Entries deemed to be inappropriate or otherwise non-compliant. Sponsor reserves the right, in their reasonable discretion, during or upon completion of the Submission Period, to request that any Entrant resubmit his or her Entry which fails to comply with the Submission Requirements prior to any judging or voting period.

· Sponsor reserves the right to waive the Submission Requirements set forth herein in their reasonable discretion.

· Entrants must completely fill out the personal information on sponsor site

Submission Materials that do not include all required information and adhere to the foregoing and following requirements will be considered void and will not be considered in this Contest, in Sponsor's sole discretion.


Technical Requirements

The Submission Materials must be greater than 30 seconds and no more than 2 minutes in length, and be submitted in one of the formats allowed on the Upload/Compete page on the Web Site. To be included in the mosaic, your photo should represent you or your dream and meet these criteria:

· No copyright restrictions on Submission Materials are permitted

· Only picture of yourself and those directly related to your dream

· .jpg file format (6 MB maximum; no smaller than 480x360

· Horizontal images preferred; vertical images must be cropped after submission

7. How winners are selected:

After entry, Entrants will be asked to share their submission via Facebook, email and/or Twitter asking others to vote for their dream. Public online voting ("Judge" or "Judging") is available to anyone who registers and enters the required contact information on Voters must register/login to vote, but do not need to enter the Contest to be able to vote. Voters can only place 1 vote per day for a particular dream, but can vote one-time per day for as many individual dreams submissions as they want to. Automated methods of voting are strictly prohibited. Voting through multiple accounts is strictly prohibited.

Voting process:

o You don't have to enter the contest to vote. However, voting requires that participants first register and then be logged in to cast votes.

o People can vote as many times as they wish, but can only vote for a particular dream 1 time per day, regardless if they are on or Facebook. This is controlled through the registration process and session/cookie logic. If a voter wants more technical details on this subject, the voter can reach out to American Family Insurance at for details . Voting data will also be encrypted when stored in the database.

o Voting happens from people interacting with the Mosaic and reading dream submission details of those who have entered the Contest. There is a vote button next to each Contest Entrants dream submission details for people to click to cast their vote. Votes are captured in the database and used to track top dream votes and ultimately the Contest winner. The winner is selected by the voters.

o After the Contest is over, Entrants will be able to continue to submit dreams. However the voting feature will be turned off.

Submission Materials received by valid Entrants during the Submission Period will be posted on's website and will compete against each other for the prizes to be awarded. Valid submissions will be open for judging for the entire Competition Period.

The initial phase of the Contest will narrow the pool of potential Winners to 10 finalists. The Top 10 finalists will be determined by Entrants who receive the most votes for their Contest dream submission. Once the initial open voting phase of the Contest has been completed, the outcome of grand prize winner along with a 2nd and 3rd place winners will be determined by a panel of judges a/k/a the (judging panel") as set forth below. The judging panel will serve as the sole determinant of the 3 prize winners of this Contest

The judging panel will only review the Top 10 Entrant Submissions Materials. The Submissions Materials will be evaluated by the judging panel based on the criteria set forth below.


The top 10 finalists Submissions Materials will be evaluated by a judging panel of representatives of the Sponsor. The judging panel will make their decision based on the following criteria:


On or about March 2, 2012, the Sponsor will determine the three (3) prize Winners from the top 10 finalist of the Contest as described above. If there is a tie, the Promotion Entities will conduct a random drawing among the Entrants who are tied to determine the winner. There will be 3 prizes awarded in total:

· A 2nd Place Winner

· A 3rd Place Winner


Three (3) prizes will be awarded to the entries with the most number of votes from the judging panelists.

· One (1) Grand Prize, $10,000 cash, and dream mentor/coaching experience. The approximate retail value (the "ARV") of the Grand Prize is approximately $10,000. The ARV is subject to change based on current market conditions at time of Prize fulfillment. Any difference between the ARV and the actual value, if any, will not be awarded. Arrangements for the fulfillment of the Prizes will be made by Sponsor. No substitution, transfer or cash equivalent of a Prize or any portion thereof is permitted, except by Sponsor, in which case a prize of equal or greater value may be awarded.

· One (1) Second Prize, $5,000 cash. The approximate retail value (the "ARV") of the Grand Prize is $5,000. The ARV is subject to change based on current market conditions at time of Prize fulfillment. Any difference between the ARV and the actual value, if any, will not be awarded. Arrangements for the fulfillment of the Prizes will be made by Sponsor. No substitution or transfer of a Prize or any portion thereof is permitted, except by Sponsor, in which case a prize of equal or greater value may be awarded.

· One (1) Third Prize, $2,500 cash. The approximate retail value (the "ARV") of the Grand Prize is $2,500. The ARV is subject to change based on current market conditions at time of Prize fulfillment. Any difference between the ARV and the actual value, if any, will not be awarded. Arrangements for the fulfillment of the Prizes will be made by Sponsor. No substitution or transfer of a Prize or any portion thereof is permitted, except by Sponsor, in which case a prize of equal or greater value may be awarded.

A. Mentoring Experience Requirements:

As part of the Mentoring Experience (which only applies to the winner of the Grand Prize) the Sponsor and/or Promotion Parties shall be permitted by the Grand Prize winner to videotape or record dream coaching sessions for use as described below:

o The winner will have his or her one-on-one mentor session conducted in a predetermined location that is safe, secure, and conducive to the day's activities. This may be their home, business, place of employment, or other location selected such as a hotel meeting space. The locations for the mentoring experience will be the sole prerogative and in the sole discretion of the Sponsor and/or Promotion Parties.

o The Promotion Party's film crew will require and, therefore, the potential Grand Prize Winner shall grant the Promotion Party and Sponsor time to document via film the potential Grand Prize Winner's life in action - this may include but is not limited to time at their home, place of employment (assuming that doing so is permitted by the employer), favorite places of interests, the potential winner's community, etc. Potential video footage opportunities will be identified prior to the film crew arriving and may take place the day before the one-on-one mentoring session.

B. Prize Acceptance:

Filming of the one-on-one mentor session will also be a requirement of the prize package. The Grand Prize Winner must accept the entire prize package offered by the Sponsor which includes the monetary prize as well as mentoring experience that also includes a video shoot. If the potential Grand Prize Winner is unwilling or unable to accept the mentoring experience requirements, such potential Grand Prize Winner shall be disqualified and all privileges otherwise due as a Grand Prize Winner shall be terminated and an alternative potential Grand Prize Winner may be chosen from among all of the remaining Eligible Entries received if time permits in Sponsor's sole discretion. Winners must complete a prize affidavit form.

C. Notification :

The potential Winner will be notified by e-mail or phone and will be given instructions on how to claim the prize. The Sponsor will make a minimum of one (1) attempt over the forty-eight (48) hour period following the Winners selection to contact the Winner(s) via the phone number associated with his/her winning Entry or email address provided on his/her winning Entry. If a potential Winner cannot be reached during the forty-eight (48) hour period in which he/she is emailed and/or called (no messages will be left on answering machines or voicemail systems), the potential Winner may be disqualified and, an alternate Winner may be selected from among all remaining applicable Eligible Entries received if time permits in Sponsor's sole discretion.

D. Winner Verification & Acceptance:

Each Winner must prove eligibility, including, without limitation, proof of age and residence within three (3) days of being notified as a potential Winner. In the event of non-compliance by a potential Winner, if he/she is found to be ineligible, if he/she cannot or does not comply with these Official Rules or if his/her Prize (hereinafter defined) or Prize notification is returned as undeliverable, such potential Winner shall be disqualified and all privileges otherwise due as a Winner shall be terminated and an alternative potential Winner may be chosen from among all of the remaining Eligible Entries received if time permits in Sponsor's sole discretion. Sponsor is not responsible for any change in Entrant's mailing address, email address and/or phone number. Each potential Winner (including each friend/family member who appears in or owns any rights in the Entry materials and recording) must sign within three (3) days of receipt of such documents from Sponsors: (a) an affidavit of eligibility and release of the Promotion Parties and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, members, affiliated companies and subsidiaries, from any and all liability, loss, claims, demands, and causes of action for personal injury and/or damage, theft, loss, or any other harm suffered in connection with this Contest or the use/misuse or acceptance of any prize or any portion thereof to be eligible for a Prize; (b) except where prohibited by law, a promotional release granting the Promotion Parties the right to use their name and likeness for advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation; and (c) an agreement granting AFI all legal, rights, title, ownership, and interest in the Entrant's submission materials.

Entry into this Contest constitutes agreement to sign such releases. Each potential Winner also must acknowledge that Sponsor has not and will not obtain or provide insurance of any kind relating to the Prize and that each potential Winner will be responsible for obtaining and paying for any property or other form of insurance relating to the Prize. Each potential Winner must also complete any additional legal documents provided by Sponsor (or third party on its behalf, if applicable) with respect to the Prize and return them as instructed within the timeframe specified by the Sponsor or the potential Winner may forfeit Prize at the Sponsor's sole discretion. All decisions of the Sponsor relating to the Contest are final. The Sponsor expressly reserves the right to delay the announcement of the Winners for creative or technical reasons or for any other reason the Sponsor deems necessary.

E. Limit one prize per person/household :

Prizes are non-transferable, non-cash portions are not redeemable for cash, and there are no substitutions, except in Sponsor's sole discretion.

Entrants agree that the Sponsor has the sole right to decide all matters and disputes arising from this Contest and that all decisions of Sponsor are final and binding. Any attempt by Entrant and/or his/her family/friends to vote more than the number of times authorized using multiple names or email address and/or any other fraudulent mechanism, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, shall give Sponsor the right to disqualify Entrant in its reasonable discretion.

The decision of the panel of judges in their sole discretion shall be final and binding in all regards. For purposes of these Rules, Contest Grand Prize Winner shall be referred to as the "Prize Winner or Grand Prize Winner".


The Sponsor reserves the right to amend the Official Rules at any time in its sole discretion due to amendment and/or adoption of new or existing laws and/or regulations regarding the administration, operation or for any other reason in the sound discretion of the Sponsor. Please check the Official Rules posted on the Website for any changes/modifications.

All costs and expenses not specifically listed herein are solely each Winner's responsibility. Winners are solely responsible to report and pay any applicable taxes on their prize. Each Winner must supply Sponsor with his/her social security number for tax purposes. An IRS Form 1099 will be issued in the name of each Winner for the actual value of the Prize received. By participating, Entrants agree to these Official Rules which are final and binding in all respects. Unclaimed prizes will not be awarded.


Entrants agree that the Promotion Parties (a) shall not be responsible or liable for any losses, damages or injuries of any kind resulting from participation in the Contest or any Contest-related activity, or from Entrants' acceptance, receipt, possession and/or use or misuse of the prize(s), and (b) have not made any warranty, representation or guarantee express or implied, in fact or in law, with respect to the prize(s), including, without limitation, to such prize's quality or fitness for a particular purpose. No liability or responsibility is assumed by Sponsor or Promotion Parties resulting from any user's participation in or attempt to participate in the Contest or ability or inability to upload or download any information in connection with participating in the Contest. No responsibility or liability is assumed by the Sponsor or Promotion Parties for technical problems or technical malfunction arising in connection with any of the following occurrences which may affect the operation of the Contest : hardware or software errors; faulty computer, telephone, cable, satellite, network, electronic, wireless or Internet connectivity or other online communication problems; errors or limitations of any Internet service providers, servers, hosts or providers; garbled, jumbled or faulty data transmissions; failure of any e-mail transmissions to be sent or received; lost, late, delayed or intercepted e-mail transmissions or entries; inaccessibility of the Web Site in whole or in part for any reason; traffic congestion on the Internet or the Web Site; unauthorized human or non-human intervention of the operation of the Contest, including without limitation, unauthorized tampering, hacking, theft, virus, bugs, worms; or destruction of any aspect of the Contest, or loss, miscount, misdirection, inaccessibility or unavailability of an email account used in connection with the Contest. Sponsor and Promotion Parties are not responsible for any typographical errors in the announcement of prizes or these Official Rules, or any inaccurate or incorrect data contained on the Web Site. Use of Web Site is at user's own risk. Sponsor and Promotion Parties are not responsible for any personal injury or property damage or losses of any kind which may be sustained to user's or any other person's computer equipment resulting from participation in the Contest, use of the Web Site or the download of any information from the Web Site. By participating in the Contest, Entrants agrees to release and hold Sponsor and Promotion Parties harmless from any and all claims, damages or liabilities arising from or relating to such Entrant's participation in the Contest.


Except where prohibited, participation in Contest and acceptance of prize constitutes each winner's permission for Sponsor and Promotional Parties to use his/her name, address (city and state only), likeness, photograph, picture, portrait, voice, biographical information, and/or any statements made by each Winner regarding the Contest, Sponsor, or American Family for advertising or promotional purposes without notice or additional compensation.


Except where prohibited, Entrant agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin or the appropriate Wisconsin State Court located in Dane County, Wisconsin; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Contest, but in no event attorneys' fees or court costs; and (3) under no circumstances will Entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and Entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the Entrant, Administrator, and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Wisconsin without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of Wisconsin or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Wisconsin.
